Overwatch Unvaulted Passes delayed until Season 5

Overwatch’s Unvaulted Passes are now delayed until Season 5. These special types of Battle Passes were previously announced for Season 4’s midcycle.

Overwatch Unvaulted Passes delayed

On Sept. 4, Overwatch game director Aaron Keller revealed the delay of the game’s Unvaulted Passes. Instead of arriving in the Overwatch Season 4 midseason update, they’re slated for the start of Overwatch Season 5.

According to Keller, the delay ensures that Overwatch’s quality assurance (QA) team has enough time to test the Unvaulted Passes for bugs. He also acknowledged how the Overwatch team knows that this is a highly requested feature among players.

“When we introduced the Battle Pass [revamp], we said that Unvaulted Passes would arrive with the Season 4 midseason update. However, we’ve decided to push Unvaulting to the start of Season 5 [to] give our amazing QA team extra time to test it as thoroughly as possible,” Keller said. “No one likes bugs, and we want to do everything we can to ensure this long-desired feature is as bug free as possible when finally available to you all.”

He then added that more details on how the Unvaulted Passes works will be revealed ahead of Overwatch Season 5. For now, however, players can continue enjoying the Battle Pass revamp.

What are Overwatch Unvaulted Passes?

So far, we know that Unvaulted Passes in Overwatch let players revisit previous Battle Pass tracks to unlock rewards. Once purchased, an Unvaulted Pass remains permanently available and can be completed alongside the current season’s Battle Pass.

It’s also worth mentioning that Unvaulted Passes do not include the original premium currency, Mythic Prisms, player titles in the prestige tiers, or mythic hero and weapon skins.

In terms of what skins that you can unlock with Unvaulted Passes, we noticed that the preview for the feature showed skins dating all the way back to October 2022’s version of Overwatch Season 1. This likely means that Hinotori Kiriko, Commando Sojourn, Miko Mercy, Beast Hunter Junker Queen, and so on can be unlocked once more.
