Final Fantasy VII Revelation Developers Want A Spoiler-Free Ending

In a recent interview with two developers of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, it was revealed that both game director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo want the ending to not be spoiled and something they want fans to experience for themselves.

The interview (via Polygon) was during an event at PAX West where both developers were insistent on the importance of the ending not being ruined by someone else.

The directors believe they don’t want the ending to be “explained to you by someone else” as they said in the interview. It is no secret we are in for an epic finale, so it makes sense the developers want the first time for gamers to be memorable and not spoiled before the end.

Part of the interview with the directors was focused on the updated battle elements Final Fantasy VII Revelation will feature called the FITS combat system. This enhances the combat specifically of newcomers such as Cid and Vincent. The new system allows for more controlled combat and will showcase the fighting abilities of the new party members.

The fact that Hamaguchi and Endo think so highly of the ending they have created that even they are hopeful the epic conclusion is not spoiled shows that this ending could do what is nearly impossible by having a satisfying conclusion that all comes full circle and does not leave any loose ends in the story that could have remained unsolved forever.

Hamaguchi and Endo only briefly touched on the ending in their interview, but even their persistence to have players experience the end for themselves and not be spoiled shows they value their fanbase highly.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation was recently confirmed to have two major DLC expansions after launch, and these will focus entirely on untold stories rather than continuing the main story of the main game.

It is unclear what makes the ending so important to not be spoiled, as both Hamaguchi and Endo seem very adamant on players being able to experience the finale on their own. We are clearly in for the ultimate ending and it will be important to make sure spoilers do not get out before launch.
